The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation, d/b/a “The Foundation”, recently elected two new members to its Board of Directors:  Tami Ronnfeldt and Mary “Maidy” Horst.

Tami Ronnfeldt, who is originally from Lakeville, Minnesota, has been coming to Sun Lakes since the early 1980’s when her parents bought their first home in Cottonwood.  Tami and her husband Ken moved from Chicago to Cottonwood/Palo Verde permanently in July 2019.

Tami has spent her career in the consumer package goods industry working for companies such as Coors, PepsiCo, and currently in the wine business for Ste Michelle Wine Estates as the National Director of Chain sales. Tami has an expansive background holding different positions in sales, marketing, business development, and sales strategy.

Tami states that “Volunteering has always been a passion of mine and I’m honored to represent all of those in the greater Sun Lakes area as a member of the Foundation”.

Mary “Maidy” Horst was born and raised near Anchorage,  Alaska . Maidy worked with GTE Directories -  Yellow Pages for 25 years and traveled extensively throughout Alaska.  After retiring from the Yellow Page industry, she went to work with Alaska Airlines and is currently a flight attendant there.

Maidy, her husband Len, and Husky Stoli, have lived in Sun Lakes since 2008.  Maidy says “We know cold, we recognize it and now, we love the sunshine and the community of Sun Lakes”.

With the addition of Tami and Maidy, the Foundation now consists of a ten member Board of Directors which also includes Richard Hawkes, Frank Gould, Cheryl Ravenscroft, Jeanne Becker, Bob Rouleau, Nancy Osborne, Kathy Skrei and Marty Neilson.

The Foundation was pleased to approve at its February meeting a grant in the amount of $3,000 to Creative Engagement Partners.  The grant will be used to create new programs for the memory café and scholarship families needing the financial support for its music therapy program.
